Summertime Fun

I remember days like this back when I was a kid on the farm. My friend David and I would save up our money to buy our propeller driven rubber band airplanes. We would fly them all day until the rubber band broke from being wound too tight too often or they crashed in a treetop that was too tall for one of us to climb up and shake it down. They only cost about a buck and a half. No batteries, no wires, no keys to punch; only hours of fun until the sun went down and our moms called us home. It’s a shame that so few kids today ever know that kind of freedom and fun.
